Parasitica is an epiphytic species which means in nature it gorws on other plants/trees but does not feed upon them. As a houseplant they do well in soil and do not need to be grown like in the wild.
Characteristics: Herbaceous Perennial.
Hardiness: Can sometimes survive frost but generally will not tolerate low temperatures below 7℃. Is best suited as an indoor plant here in the UK.
Position: Partial shade, south or west facing.
Soil Type: Will be happy planted in any good potting soil.
Watering: Keep moist in well drained soil. Will droop it's leaves readily if soil dries out.
Pests & Diseases: Not susceptible to disease but can attract small pest insects. Use a neem oil spray (home made) - see our article here on how to make your own: Using neem oil safely as a natural pest spray.
Top Tip: Parasitica is herbaceous, meaning it will die back after the growing season and start new growth in spring. We have had a couple plants not do this occasionally so be mindful that if yours does not one year, it may do so the next.
